Ryan Gingeras’s new book Eternal Dawn tells us the “fascinating, terrible and inspiring story” of Atatürk’s Turkey “without deference to the mythology that still envelops it”. Ozan Ozavci of TLP talked to Gingeras about how he became interested in Turkish history, the making of the Kemalist mythos in the early republican era, and whether it has precipitated the emergence of counter-cults of personality today.
