Michelle’s most recent publications related to The Lausanne Project include The British Empire and the Armenian Genocide: Humanitarianism and Imperial Politics from Gladstone to Churchill (2019) and “Genocide, Famine and Refugees on Film: Humanitarianism and the Great War” Past and Present 237:1 (November 2017): 197-235. Her article, “The Concentration Camp as a Site of Refuge: The Rise of the Refugee Camp and the Great War in the Middle East” is forthcoming in Journal of Modern History (December 2021). She is currently at work on a book project provisionally entitled, “The Last Treaty: The Middle Eastern Front and the End of the First World War” which rewrites the final years of the war as a story of humanitarian crisis and failed diplomacy.
