Ozan is Assistant Professor of History at Utrecht University and an associate member at the Centre d’Études Turques, Ottomanes, Balkaniques et Centrasiatiques (CETOBaC, UMR 8032) in Paris. He wrote his doctoral thesis and first book on the liberal ideas and times of the republican writer Ahmet Ağaoğlu (1869-1939). His second monograph Dangerous Gifts: Imperialism, Security, and Civil Wars in the Levant, 1798-1864 will be published in July 2021. He specializes in Euro-Middle Eastern entangled histories of ideology, security, diplomacy and finances from the late eighteenth century until the present day.
